The chamotte bridges connected Panevėžys and Daugavpils cities

The Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery  and the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre (Latvia) have exchanged their works of art collections for two months.

Peteris Martinsons‘ (1931-2013)  artwork “The bridge from nowhere“ (1998) which was created in the  Xth Panevėžys International Ceramic Symposium was sent to Daugavpils.

Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre has come to the Ceramic Art Pavilion  in  The Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery  and could be seen till the first day of September.

The artist graduated from the Latvian State University in 1957 where he studied architecture. He participated in numerous exhibitions and symposiums in Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazachstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, USA, and Uzbekistan, he had a number of solo exhibitions since 1969. The artist won several  awards such as Gold medals at the International Competition of Ceramics Art in Faenza, Italy (1972, 1975 and 1976);   Bronze Award in Mino, Japan (1992). He was a member of the International Academy of Ceramics since 1971.

The artist was a participant of the symposiums in 1990, 1991 and 1998.
