The photography biennial in Panevezys was organised in 2005, 2011, and 2013. We would like to continue this event and kindly invite the Lithuanian and foreign professional photography artists to take part in the Photography Biennial in Panevezys. We are looking forward to making this event a traditional one.

 

The event will comprise not only exhibitions, but also the photography art creative workshop, lectures, discussions and practical activities. The works created during the biennial workshop will be presented at the exhibition and its catalogue will be released.

 

 

 

 

 

The theme of this year Panevezys International Photography Biennial is “Man and the City”. Thirteen professional photography artists from Panevėžys, other cities of Lithuania, and foreign countries will be invited to take part in the event: Algimantas Aleksandravičius (Lithuania), Stanislovas Bagdonavičius (Lithuania), Valdis Brauns (Latvia), Milda Butkevičiūtė (Lithuania), Ramūnas Danisevičius (Lithuania), Inga Dinga (Lithuania), Marcin Jastrzębski (Poland), Miroslava Ivanova (Bulgaria), Emil Mihov (Bulgaria) Linas Mikuta (Lithuania), Valentinas Pečininas (Lithuania), Stasys Povilaitis (Lithuania), Kristina Sereikaitė (Lithuania).

 

 

 

Creative workshops, lectures and educational events will be taking place at the Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery, where the collection of photography works generated during the Panevėžys International Photography Biennials of 2005, 2011 and 2013 and maintained in the depositories of the Gallery will be displayed (16 June to 19 July 2015). The photography artists will be upgrading their artistic skills during the workshop (16 to 20 June 2015) organised during the Biennial. Morning-to-lunch the members of the creative workshop will be taking pictures and videos of the city and its people, and after lunch there will be lectures, discussions and practical activities at the Panevezys Civic Art Gallery. The reports will be delivered by photography art writers such as Virginijus Kinčinaitis, dr. Zita Pikelytė as well as prominent photography artists – members of the biennial. All participants of the workshop will be provided a possibility to present their creation and discussions are expected to take place afterwards. Photography art problems will be discussed, and sharing of experience and information materials between local and foreign photographers will take place. Lectures, presentations of creation and discussions will be open to photographers from all over Lithuania and especially young artists would be welcome.

 

The photography workshop of the Panevėžys International Photography Biennial will conclude with the photography and videoart exhibition to be opened at the Photography Gallery and in other spaces of Vasario 16-osios Street. The exhibitions will be opened on 20 June and remain be accesible to the public until 12 July.

 

Three most creative and innovative participants will be declared to be the laureates of Panevėžys International Photography Biennial "Man and the City" 2015 and will be awarded monetary prizes.

 

 

 

The participants of the biennial will give the photos and videoart works of the exhibition to the Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery, a municipality supported institution, as a gift. Those photographs will enlarge the photography art collection of the Panevėžys Civic Art Gallery. A video movie about the Panevėžys International Photography Biennial “Man and the City” will be created. Edition of the works generated during the creative workshop of the biennial will be released to promote project dissemination and ensure its cultural sustainability.
