Born in 1942 in Lithuania. Rimas graduated from the California State University, Sacramento (BA: Physics, 1966 and MA: Art, 1971) and from the Washington State University, Pullman (MFA: Ceramics, 1973). He has participated in numerous group exhibitions (mainly in the USA) and also had a number of solo exhibitions since 1971. Since 1972 he has been a member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) since 1998. In 2003 the artist was awarded a Lithuanian American Community Cultural Council Visual Arts Award. His works are included in the collections of Australian, Belgian, Czech, Georgian, Korean, Polish, and USA museums.
Rimas has been a great help to the Panevėžys Symposiums as a consultant to the organizers and has been a participant of the symposiums in 1989, 1991, 1992, 1994,1998, 2004 and 2006.
