Peteris graduated from the Latvian State University in 1957 where he studied architecture. He has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposiums in Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazachstan, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, USA, Uzbekistan, he has had a number of solo exhibitions since 1969. The artist has won several awards such as Gold medals at the International Competition of Ceramics Art in Faenza, Italy (1972, 1975 and 1976); Bronze Award in Mino, Japan (1992). He was a member of the International Academy of Ceramics since 1971. He teaches at the Latvian Academy of Arts (Professor).
The artist was a participant of the symposiums in 1990, 1991 and 1998.
