Makoto Hatori

Born in 1947. In 1969 he studied pottery under a Bizen master potter Ken Fujiwara. In 1972 he graduated from the Nihon University, Collegel of Arts where he studied sculpture, later he continued his studies at the Gifu Prefectural Institute. Since 1978 the artist has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposiums in Australia, Belgium, Croatia, Egypt, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, New Zeland, Poland, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, UK, and the USA. He has published a number of articles and reviews on ceramic art. In 1992 he taught ceramics at the Manchester Metropolitan University Department of Art and Design. From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of Association of Contemporary Applied Arts in England. His works are included in the collections of Hungarian, Korean, South African, UK museums.
Makoto was a participant of the symposiums in 1996 and 1998.
