Kirk Mangus (1952-2013)

Born in 1952. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA: 1975) and from the Washington State University (MFA: 1979). Since 1976 he has participated in numerous exhibitions in Canada, China, Finland, France, Japan, Italy, India, Korea, Mexico, and the USA. He has lectured and presented workshops in the mentioned countries. He was a member of the NCECA (National Council of Education in Ceramic Arts) since 1973. The artist has won numerous prestigious awards such as National Endowment for the Arts (1982), Award from the Pennsylvania State Council of the Arts (1984), Awards from the Ohio State Council of the Arts (1987, 1990, 1996, 1999), NCECA Travel Award to China (2006). Kirk was a Head of Ceramics Department at the Kent State University (Professor of Art since 1997).
The artist was a participant of the symposium in 2001.
