Born in 1956. Itsue graduated from the Osaka University of Fine Arts (BFA: 1979), from the Minnesota State University, Mankato, USA (MA:1981), and from the Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA (MFA: 1983). Since 1981 she has participated in numerous exhibitions and symposiums in Argentina, France, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Latvia, the Netherlands, and the USA. The artist has arranged a number of solo exhibitions. She has created numerous ceramic sculpture pieces for interior and exterior as commissioned by the public institutions (mainly in Japan). Itsue has published a number of articles and reviews on ceramic art. In 1988 she established a studio in Miyazaki where she makes slab and coil-built sculpture. Since 1979 she has been a member of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and since 2004 a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), also she has been a member of the Japan Association of Artists, Craftsmen and Architects (AACA) since 2005. She has won several grants such as the Japaneese Government Overseas Study Program for Art, Tokyo, Japan (2000), the Nippon Foundation Fellowship for Asian Public Intellectuals (2006). Her works are included in the collections of the art museums of Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the USA. Since 1985 she has been delivering lectures and workshops world-wide in various universities and international art centres. Since 2010 she has been an instructor at the Miyazaki City Art Centre.
The artist was a participant of the symposium in 2012.
