Heidi Preuss Grew

Born in 1970. From 1991 to 1992 she studied at the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. She graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (BA: Germanic Languages and Literature, 1994; BFA: Art History, 1994; BFA: Crafts, 1995) and from the Ohio University, Athens (MFA, 1997). Since 1998 she has participated in exhibitions, symposiums and residencies in China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Taiwan, UK, and the USA. The artist has arranged a number of solo exhibitions. Heidi has published a number of articles and reviews on ceramic art. Since 2007 she has been a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). Heidi has won awards and grants such as the Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artists Fellowship (2002, 2010), 1st Prize at the 11th International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics in Aveiro, Portugal (2013), Linda Lighton International Artists Exchange Program Grant (2014), etc. Her works are included in the collections of art museums in China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Poland, South Korea, and the USA. Currently she teaches (Associate Professor of Art since 2005) at the Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and also delivers lectures and workshops world-wide in various universities and international art centres.
